What do you want to happen: Invis to be removed or disabled in combat

Why should it happen: As it stands invis is incredibly overpowered in flag defense above all. One potion lasts for 8 minutes which allows you to break as many flags as they can place during this time.

This being said I know many people will be against removing invis pots entirely, even though the precedent on the server is that they were disabled up to 2018 due to them being incredibly overpowered. So I've come up with a compromise that still allows for invis use but at a less detrimental cost to attackers if they can find the invis. This would to disable invis in combat. This would allow defenders to still use invis to sneak up on a person, or someone to sneak up to try and drop someone, but would quickly render their potion useless when hit. This would mean invis's can still break flags like normal but it actually costs them a lot more invis pots if they are found and can escape. As for using invis in regular PvP, thats fucking gay and this isn't an HCF server so it doesn't need to be on. Personally I'm for disabling invis entirely, since there are enough caps to attacking already but I know many people will be against this.

What will this bring to the server: A Balanced solution to invis potions that result in them being nerfed slightly for the good of the server.

Additional Info: This is also for Acid_Monkey who quickdropped his teammate because he was invis during a fight. I felt bad. :(

Invis is an incredibly powerful way for an underdog in a war to be able to keep their town when powerhouses such as yourself decide to make those people non-existant.

It also wastes powerhouses's cashflow a bit because war isn't cheap.

Disabling it in combat wouldn’t negate your point.

Yes, it kind of does, though in a "retreating" view of the event.

Say a player attempts to / is running away invisibly (assuming they properly de-equipped), and an arrow is shot and hits them, or someone within reach spears/slashes them, or throws a potion of harming. Normally, this initiates "combat". Given the suggestion, it defeats the purpose of invisibility pots as a retreat aid. And if you can't deal with Mr. Birthday-suit charging at you, you've got issues.

If you wish to counter naked Invis-users, splash potions of harming are going to be your best friends. Spectral arrows, if you can place the shot, will be a close second. And if someone has their gear equipped, this is a non-issue. If they be sneak-attacking, either be prepared in the wild or have better defenses.

Some options we could potentially explore (though, I'm not making promises on nor committing to memory):
    • Adding a Positive Karma Effect that automatically gives the "Glowing" status effect to players within 10m of you for 10s. (Redirect to Matt)
      • Add a glowing effect to *all* players within 15m of a war-flag would also solve your main grievance.
        • Easily achievable using the Euclidean Distance formula for three dimensions from the flag's wool.
        • Alternatively, cast it as a 30x30x256 area-of-effect.
        • Makes it easier to see, as a defender, where a war flag was placed; as an attacker, lights up invisible players.
    • Reducing the effective time of the Invisibility Potions by 50% (Invisibility Arrows and lingering pots stay stock)
    • Make "Spectral Lingering Potions" that give the 'Glowing' effect.
      • We could probably do this with Brewery... Not sure if it handles Lingering potions or not...
      • Alt: These could also be a LS Shop item, but that could open potential to corrupted items if the feature breaks or is removed. (Defer to Dread / Matt)
Also bear in mind that this is something that @Dreadmore or @Emperor_Koala would need to add to our pile of custom code - and given that we're decoupling & depricating most combat modifications, this would have to be pushed to the back burner in the event we wish to actually use it.

TLDR: Invisibility Pots are here to stay. Some minor modifications could be made in the future but are not being promised or explored at this time.
